Basil is beneficial for relieving headaches, migraines and sinusitis. Evidence also suggests that sweet basil essential oil helps with migraines. Properties: Analgesic, Antidepressant, Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Emmenagogue and truly uplifting Uses: For treating Bronchitis, Colds, Constipation, Insect Bites, Mental Fatigue, Migraine, Nervous Tension, Rheumatism and Sinus Congestion Combines well with Citrus oils, Frankincense and Geranium A few common blends: Concentrating might be tough after a hard and stressful day. French Basil (never use the exotic variety since it might prove cancerous) has a peculiar Aniseed-like aroma and is fantastic at focusing the mind. Should be blended with Pine for best results. For good digestion, combine 4 drops Lavender, 3 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Basil, and 1 drop Neroli (or Chamomile) tea in a small amber bottle. Add a carrier of 1 T. vegetable oil or unscented lotion. Apply this to the stomach and back of hands, 1/2 hour before meals. Use sparingly, as this is a concentrated blend. Inhale as needed from back of hands. Contraindications: May cause irritation to sensitive skin. Use well diluted. Not to be used during pregnancy.
