Puffiness under eyes is a very common problem faced by one and all. Here are some tips which will guide you how to get rid of puffiness under eyes. Ample sleep, water and some quick fixes will help you reduce puffiness from your eyes.

How To Get Rid Of Puffiness Under Eyes



All of us at one time or the other must have experienced puffiness under the eyes. How quickly you can get rid of puffiness under your eyes depends on whether puffiness is because of genetics or some internal or external factor. Try out these remedies to reduce puffiness under your eyes.

1. Chilled spoon

If you want a quick fix for puffy eyes all you need to do is keep a spoon in the freezer and when it is chilled press it to eyelids for a few minutes to reduce the redness.

2. Tea Bags

Place used chammomile tea bags or odinary tea bags on the eyelids for 10 minutes. In case tea bags are not available then dip a cotton pad in the brewed tea mixture and place it on the eyelid.

3. Ice Water

Take some icy cold water in a bowl, dip a cotton pad in it , squeeze out excess water and then place the moist pads on your eyelids. Once the pads get warm dip them again in the icy water. Repeat this for 15 minutes. This process will definately reduce the puffiness.

4. Cucumber

Take 2 slices of cucumber and place them on your eyelids for 15 minutes. Cucumber has anti-inflammatory properties.

5. Get enough sleep

Puffiness around the eyes shows lack of sleep. So ensure you get 7 - 8 hours of sound sleep.

6. Use pillow

Sleep on your back with your head resting on a soft pillow. Your head should be elevated above the rest of the body. This will ensure that when you wake up all the fluids surrounding your eyes do not get collect under your eyes.

7. Diet

- Reduce your salt intake as this will ensure less water retention in your body in general.
- Eat bananas and raisins as both of them help in water retention.
- Do not drink too much coffee as it can interfere with your digestion and can disturb your sleep pattern.
- Drink cabbage juice as its diuretic properties will get rid of excess fluids from the body.
- Consume 8 - 10 glasses of water.
- Eat a high fibre diet as this will help eliminate toxins from the body.
- Avoid eating high fat foods.


8. Clear your allergies

You will be surprise to know he fact that your eye allergy could be the reason for your puffiness. So always check your pillow, it could be allergic. As dust is another case for puffy eyes, so if you are prone to dust allergies, make sure to have a clear and dust free surroundings, clear out the dust catchers like old paper and books around the area you sleep. Mint and citrus family can actually work like energy booster and can brighten up your eyes as well as the entire body.

9. Fruit Juice

Dab of juice of fruit likes Grape, lemon and tangerine, peppermint, spruce or pine oil on your pulse points goes for a fragrance with same elements. Drain off the excessive fluid by patting the delicate under eye skin .You can also keep a teaspoon in the fridge and place under the eyes for about five minutes and if it doesn't work ,try an eye gel.

10. Hide it with makeup

If puffiness is on the upper eyelid then you can conceal it with the help of eyeshadow.The color of the eyeshadow should be dark and light colors. You can also use two shades. Apply the dark color from the eyelashes to the middle of the eyelid. And then apply the medium color from where you left till the eyebrow.

If puffiness is under the eyes then you can use concealer or foundation to hide puffiness. Use a dark tone foundation so that the puffiness gets hidden and not highlighted.

11. Eyecreams

If you are unable to get rid of puffiness under your eyes with the help of any of the above described natural tips then there are eyecreams available in the market to address these issues. However it is important to remember that the area around your eyes is very sensitive so do not just use any eyecream available.
