This article aims to provide insight as how to toilet train your child. Keeping the following things in mind will make toilet training of your kid easy. Toilet teaching is a must for every growing child.
How to Toilet Train Your Child
Toilet training is nothing but teaching your child the use of toilet independently. It naturally happens only once your child is old enough to be ready for it. You can look out for signs that your child gives to indicate that he's ready to learn.
The physical signs for instance can be when your child does not urinate just about anytime and all the time. There is sufficient gap and he is often dry even after a nap. His bowel movements have also become more regular and timely. You can also pick up signs from his body language that he wants to either urinate or defecate. He might stop playing, have no expression on his face or all scrunch up his face. You can pick up all of these start toilet training him.
It at least takes a child 18 months to reach to this stage and might also take 24 to 48 months. There is no need to worry if your child takes a little longer and definitely none to rush or force things on him. Pressurizing him to learn something he's not even ready for right now may just have a negative affect on him.
Your child must become old enough to walk up to the bathroom, zip down and be able to sit on the toilet seat. You will of course have to help him initially and then he will pick up.
The other psychological signs that you can look for can be when your child does not stay in a diaper even after wetting it once and does not want to wear diapers but proper under wears. Has specific words or gestures to tell you that he wants to either urinate or defecate and when he can follow your instructions to use the potty. He could also show interest in your toilet habits and want to follow them.
Encouragement and communication from your side will also help your kid learn faster. Ask him when he wants to use the potty and teach him to tell you beforehand if he notices that he wants to do so. It is not difficult once he has started to learn and will make him more independent and less fussy person. Also, it will be highly convenient for both of you!
