This section contains a list of homemade cleansing milks. These are simple to prepare as they include things like buttermilk, honey and rosewater but are very effective in use. Skin Cleansing Milk
Buttermilk and Fennel Cleansing Milk (For Oily Skin)
1/2 cup buttermilk 2 Tbsp crushed fennel seeds Directions: Heat the milk and fennel seeds in top of double boiler for 30 minutes. Turn off heat, let steep for 2 hours. Strain, cool, pour into bottle and refrigerate. Keeps for 2 weeks. Honey Cleanser (For Dry Skin) Castile soap 1 Tsp Honey Directions Wet face. Pour a little castile soap into the palm of your hand, add honey. Mix honey and soap into a lather, wash face. Milk and Honey Cleanser Mix 1 tsp warm honey with 1 tablespoon milk or cream. This recipe should be prepared fresh each time. Rosewater Cleansing Cream 4 tbsp. lanolin 2 fl. oz. almond oil 1 tbsp. glycerine 1/8 tsp borax 3 tbsp rosewater 1 tsp zinc oxide ointment 6 drops essential oil of rose Directions All ingredients should be the same temperature when you mix them together. Melt lanolin (use a double boiler). Gently heat the almond oil and glycerine together. Slowly pour the oil and glycerine mixture into the melted lanolin, beating constantly. Dissolve the borax as warming the rosewater. Gradually add the rosewater mixture to lanolin mixture constantly beating. Leave to cool. When cooled and creamy beat in the zinc oxide and rose oil. Spoon into prepared jars. Honey Cleanser 1/4 cup honey 1 tablespoon liquid soap 1/2 cup glycerin Directions Mix together all ingredients and pour into a clean bottle. Remember to use non-breakable containers if you are going to be using it in the tub or shower. Makes 6 ounces. |
